New technology for creating large touch surfaces

Touch screens have already become our daily routine. Smartphones, tablets, laptops and bank terminals are equipped with them. What if you make a large touch surface? If you create it using the same technology as for handheld devices, it will not be portable, and its production will be incredibly expensive. But this is not the only way to create a touch surface. Researchers in Japan and the United States have developed a device that can turn any surface into a touchscreen. The secret of the new technology is the camera attached to the projector. It recognizes the user's movements and instantly reacts when clicking on the interface elements. This is made possible by an image processing algorithm that tracks the position of the fingers in relation to the image from the projector.

The developers believe that due to the relative cheapness, the technology can have a great future, since it can be used to create interactive rooms, play and study spaces.
